Business Licenses

Business License Requirements:

Every person engaged or intending to engage in any calling, business, occupation or profession within the limits of the city is required to purchase a business license. For questions regarding a business license, contact Shirley Kzzinsky at 803-684-2341 or shirleyk@yorkcitysc.com.

All businesses must meet:

• Building codes,
• Zoning codes,
• Fire and Life Safety Codes,
• Sign Ordinance, and
• Business License Ordinance/Code

Contractors wanting to operate within the City of York will be required to provide a copy of their SC State Contractors or Home Builders license prior to approval for a city business license.

Hospitality Tax Information for Restaurants and Bars:

The City of York implemented a 2% hospitality tax on prepared foods and beverages on November 4, 2003. All city restaurants serving food and/or beverages are required to pay this tax. For questions regarding this tax contact Jackie Mosely at 803-684-2341 or jmosely@yorkcitysc.com.
